Board Initiatives

Strategic Planning Project – The Strategic Planning Process is complete.  At the Board Retreat on May 5th, the Board, and members of the Strategic Planning Team, tackled the job of implementation of our strategic priorities and objectives for the remainder of 2009/2010, and looking into 2010/2011.  You will start to see the changes – with the focus on the Vision, purpose and values. Going forward, our vision, purpose and values will guide the work of the Board in everything we do.

WBN Vision: We are the most sought-after and respected forum where businesswomen
of integrity and diverse backgrounds openly connect and are inspired.
WBN Purpose: To inspire women in their business lives.
WBN Values: Respect, Integrity, Collaborate, Develop

At our Board Retreat in May we have started working on four mini-projects that support and reflect our vision.

  1. A review of our organizational structure
UPDATE: An RFP to propose a new Governance model was sent out; the successful candidate to do the contract to be identified early July.  Their recommendations are due back in August and recommendations will be presented to our Board on September 10th.
  2. Streamline our membership application process
UPDATE: We are reviewing all aspects of the WBN membership application process and will present an online approach to handling these applications at the July Board meeting, asking for Board input. The recommended changes will be presented at the August Board meeting.
  3. Create an event focused on diversity
UPDATE: The Committee will determine culture, venue & menu by July 1st.  Find speaker/topic by August 1st.  Complete promotion plan by September 1st and complete event logistics and hold event by November 30th, 2010.
  4. Understand our Members’ Needs & Wants via online surveys
UPDATE: Survey questions will be sent out on an as needed basis to poll our membership on topics of immediate interest.  The first such topic is the continued relevancy and usefulness of our online directory.  A survey is being prepared to get member opinions about this member service.  Recommendations based on survey results will be presented at the September Board meeting.

Retention, Retention, Retention:  We value our members and welcome any comments you may wish to pass along.  Janet Wolfe, is our Membership Chair and would be happy to discuss any ideas you have.  Let your voice be heard and be part of our vision for change and commitment to our membership.
