In January 2009 Heather sold her catering business.  She had spent over twenty years as co-founder/co-owner of Epicuria (www.epicuria.ca). 

Heather’s new goal is to carve out a career in non profit. In January 2010 Heather accepted a position as Development Assistant at the Ottawa Public Library Foundation.  She has almost completed the Fundraising Management Program at Algonquin College. Combining education with her dynamic volunteer experience, entrepreneurial skills and proven business acumen will serve her well in her new career.  She is challenged to learn what is needed for personal and organizational success in the Non Profit Sector.

Heather won the 2007 Businesswoman of the Year Award in the Entrepreneur Category. She has been one of the driving forces on the fundraising committee at L’Arche Ottawa (www.larche.ca), a nonprofit community for adults with intellectual disabilities. She is a past President of the WBN.

Heather relaxes by creating great food and travelling with her husband.  When possible, sharing life and times with their 4 adult children is a priority and a joy.

Roslyn Bern is President of the Leacross Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting education for women and children. The Foundation has supported numerous initiatives across Canada  She has served on the board of the Canadian Women’s Foundation focussing on violence prevention and economic development. She has also worked closely with university programs in Ottawa and Toronto promoting women in management and business.

Ms. Bern also believes that educational opportunities are needed for children outside of their regular school based programs such as reading workshops, outdoor education, and music training. She is also a proponent of building communities, and through collaboration, the Leacross Foundation has supported women in Leadership Ottawa and Sprott Business School. She has served on the family selection committee for Habitat for Humanity NCR and is currently working on an initiative to promote non violence for teens in the Ottawa region with a program called LOVe (Leave out Violence Everywhere) She is also President of BOW Plumbing Group, specializing in plastic plumbing  products for the home.

Rebecca is the President of Concierge Home Services, a household management company which serves the growing niche of homeowners who are outsourcing home maintenance tasks. They offer home cleaning,  window washing, carpet cleaning, home checks, and pet sitting.

In 2004, Concierge Home Services won the prestigious Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics from the Better Business Bureau.

In 2007, Rebecca launched the franchising of her unique business model. Three franchises have already been awarded, in Ottawa and Guelph, Ontario.

Rebecca left a corporate career in Human Resources to start her company, whose culture is rooted in having work-life balance for staff and franchisees. Her great passion is to mentor her franchisees, and assist them grow their business.

When not building on her vision for her company, Rebecca is actively involved with her daughters, aged 3, 10, and 12. She studies French at La Cité Collégiale and practices yoga. She sits on the Board of Harmony House, a second stage shelter assisting women and their families transition from a life of violence. Rebecca also leads the annual food drive for Concierge Home Services, which benefits the Ottawa Food Bank.

Janell is Director of the Golf Committee for the 2009/2010 term. She was also chair in the 2008/2009 year. She has been a member of the WBN since 2002 and a member of the Golf Committee since 2004.

Janell has recently joined the Citadel Renovation’s Team as their Dream Facilitator.

Assisting her clients in realizing their dream environment, Janell brings her past real estate, sales and decorating experience to this position. Citadel has been renovating homes in Eastern Ontario since 1984. Janell enjoys biking, gardening and an occasional game of golf in her free time.

Christina Bova is the Special Events and Sponsorship Manager at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation. She holds a Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Biology from Laurentian University and has been working in health care fundraising for the last two years.  Following graduation Christina, gained experience within the private sector as a sales representative for scientific and medical research equipment.  The majority of her customers were health care facilities.

As apart of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Canada's largest and foremost cardiovascular health centre, Christina is responsible for the organization and sponsorship administration of most of the Heart Institute's special events including two major golf tournaments, the annual telethon and various gala events.  In addition to this she liaises with several community event organizers to assist them in the planning and execution of successful fundraising events in support of the Heart Institute.

As a recent recipient of a Gordon H. Durnan Edowment Bursary, Christina will be attending the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy's Madison Institute in July.

On a personal note, Christina enjoy's keeping busy with sewing, knitting and hiking with her Husband Trever.

Janet is the founder, owner and operator of Enhanced Learning Centre, an in-home tutoring service. Enhanced Learning Centre has been in operation for the past 15 years successfully helping hundreds of elementary and secondary students. The Centre provides certified teachers for in-home tutoring in all academic subjects for elementary and secondary school. With over 25 years of teaching experience, Janet brings a wealth of educational knowledge and information for her clients.   Janet is always striving to give exceptional customer service and recently offered online tutoring for students.

Janet has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Guelph and a B.Ed. from Queen’s University.  As well as running a tutoring service, Janet also trained as a professional speaker with Pryor Seminars in Kansas, U.S.A.  She conducted self help seminars for Pryor across Ontario.

Janet has been a member of the WBN for several years and was an active member of the Membership Committee. The WBN has been a wonderful opportunity for Janet to network with other business owners and she has made some good friends.  Janet has now assumed the co-chair of the Membership Committee and looks forward to sharing this opportunity with her co-chair, Joyce Owens.  She and her husband live in the Centrepointe area and share 3 children and one granddaughter.

Rosa received her Honours Bachelor of Arts -Co-operative Education, Deans Honours List in May of 1998, and her Master of Accounting - Specialization in Public Accounting and Tax in October of 1998 from the University of Waterloo. She obtained her CA designation in 2000.
